OVERVIEW
This fellowship explores the transient state of urban slums in India through the lens of water and sanitation. During this fellowship you will engage with a civil society or government agency as they work with the community in understanding and providing water & sanitation services. Potential contexts for the fellowship include a leading Indian NGO working with slums in Mumbai & Pune or a visit with some of the most progressive public administrators in cities like Ahmedabad, Surat or Chennai.
PARTICIPANTS
A team of 2-3 fellows from fields of design, business and technology led by a practicing design thinker or entrepreneur from studios & startups both in India and outside.
SCHEDULE
Over 3-4 days teams will head into their assigned trips along with their anchor to experience the various contexts first hand. Depending on the context, the team would interact closely with entrepreneurs, non-governmental agencies, public administrators or others as they together think through challenges & opportunities.
PROVISIONS
All fellowship participants will be awarded with travel to the workshop site from Delhi, as well as room and board, local travel, and studio space (where required).
ORGANIZER
This fellowship is organized by Quicksand, a multi-disciplinary innovation consultancy based in Delhi and Bangalore in India.
WHAT YOU GET
The intent of these trips is not so much to come up with path-breaking solutions as it is to start empathizing with the unique contexts that new ideas find themselves in. The fellowship should inspire participants to go back with new experiences and new thoughts.
